Framer password protect page - per page, not just site-wide
Framer gives you one site-wide password, not a separate password per page for different clients. When you need to gate a single page or preview on its own, drop it on Hostsmith and add a password or email whitelist on Pro.
Hosted in the EU on request - EU data partitions available on Pro.
The public link is free. You'll sign in free to publish it - no card needed.
Framer is a genuinely lovely way to design and ship a marketing site, and its built-in password protection is fine for what it does: put one password in front of the whole site. The wall people hit is narrower than "Framer can't gate anything" - it is that the gate is site-wide, and client work often needs a gate around a single page or preview, separately from everything else.
Where Framer actually stands
- Site-wide password exists on paid site plans. One password, whole site.
- Per-page gating is not a simple toggle. Showing different pages to different audiences - each with its own password - generally means leaning on the CMS and membership features, which is more machinery than "protect this one page".
If your whole site should sit behind one password, Framer's built-in option is the right tool and you do not need this page. It is the per-page, per-client case where a drop-and-gate host is simpler.
How Hostsmith handles the same job
- Export or save the single page (or a small bundle) you want to gate.
- Drop it onto Hostsmith as its own site for a free public link.
- On the Pro plan, turn on Private Sites and choose a shared password or an email whitelist.
Because each upload is its own gated site, you can hand two different clients two different links, each protected on its own, without touching your main Framer site. Password protection, custom domains and EU partitions are Pro features; the free tier is a public link only.

Frequently asked questions
Can you password protect a single page in Framer?
Framer's built-in password protection is site-wide - one password for the whole site on a paid plan. There is no simple per-page password toggle; gating individual pages for different audiences generally means building with the CMS and membership features rather than a quick switch. Framer is a superb design tool - this is specifically about per-page gating for client work.
What's the easiest way to gate just one page for a client?
Upload that page (or a small export) as its own site on Hostsmith and turn on Private Sites on Pro. Each upload is gated independently, so two clients can each get their own password or whitelist without affecting your main site.
Is the gate free?
No. The public link is free; password protection, custom domains and EU partitions are on the Pro plan. We won't tell you gating is free, because it isn't - on Framer or here.
